World Cup: Jumia Nigeria to Reward Football Fans for Supporting the Super Eagles

MTN Nigeria Kicks Off 21 Days of Y’ello Care

MTN Nigeria began its 21 Days Of Y’ello Care campaign, a volunteerism initiative where all ‘MTNers’ (staff of MTN) across the country will volunteer in various goodwill projects around the country.

The annual campaign launched in 2007, is this year tagged “Creating A Brighter Future.” MTN will, for the next 21 days, focus its effort towards ensuring a better quality of life for Nigerians.

‘MTNers’ headed out of their offices for the kick-off of the CSR campaign. And just like previous years, the next 21 days will be utilized for CSR-centred activities. There will be a National Priority Project: Rhesus Disease Awareness; a Career Fair and a Youth Empowerment Campaign.

Singer, Chidinma Ekile, was around to add even more color to the event. She sang back to back hits to the delight of the audience. One of the highlights of her performance was when she moved around the audience, taking selfies and bantering with the staff of MTN Nigeria.

With all the fun around, the essence of the Y’ello Care Campaign remained at the forefront, Toyosi Akerele, CEO Rise Networks, explained youth empowerment and the effects of giving back to the society.

BlackBerry Unveils KEY2 Smartphone with Physical Keyboard Under a 4.5 Inch Screen

There's a new BlackBerry smartphone named Blackberry Key2, the latest effort to revive the once-dominant brand.

The BlackBerry Key2 was unveiled Thursday in New York by TCL Communication, the Chinese manufacturer which took over the rights to the smartphone brand from the Canadian tech firm in 2016.

The Key2 builds on last year's KeyOne (aka Mercury), which was the first BlackBerry phone released under a licensing deal with Chinese manufacturer TCL Communication.

In terms of software, the device runs on Google Android Oreo Go edition. It will be Tecno’s second device to come with Android Go after the Tecno F1 which was unveiled in April this year. Everything You Need to Know About 9mobile BlazeOn - Time Based Data Plans

This is an update, as of 3rd-05-2018.
A few weeks back, 9Mobile (formally known as Etisalat) unveiled their own time based data plan, working via an app called Blaze On, powered by Comptel’s FWD solution.

It seems we are getting the information about plan wrongly. 9Mobile time based data plan has 4 different plans, 10mins, 15mins, 30mins & 1 hour timely plan, none of these plans are unlimited and 9Mobile was never declared it as unlimited plan, though they make the data plan not understandable. The message released by 9Mobile is "buy data in minutes, buy data in hours", no further detail about the plan.

If you don't know, I'm confirming it for you now that 9Mobile Blazeon time based plans has fair data usage condition, i.e. A particular amount of data is capped to each plan. See the data limit of each of the plans below:
  • 10min plan of N50 is capped at 230MB
  • 15min plan of N70 is capped at 350MB
  • 30min plan of N120 is capped at 780MB
  • 1hour plan of N200 is capped at 1580MB (1.5GB)
I don't know when our 4 major Telecoms in Nigeria will be tested and proved to us and provide us the genuine unlimited data plan with affordable price, even with time based data plans, they cannot offer us an unlimited data plan.

However, with the fair usage policy attached to 9Mobile time based plans, I think it is still one of the best data plan. Getting 1.5GB for just N200 is too bad?

If the 9Mobile network is good in your locality and you have better things to do with internet data, like downloading, upgrading/updating the system and Smartphones. You will really love this plan when you give it a trial.

For now, the app is available for Android users, but might be rolled out for iOS device very soon. The plan can't be used directly on a PC except through tethering from an Android device.

The update weighs in at around 1.7GB. You probably need to connect to a fast Wi-Fi network or subscribe for at least a 2GB data plan to the download, make sure your phone is not rooted and also charge your battery to at least 70% before proceeding with the software update.

  • Go to your phone "settings"
  • Scroll down to "about phone"
  • Click on it and tap "system update"

In November 2017, Google had introduced the Datally app designed to help Android smartphone users stay under the limits of pricey mobile data packages.

The service lists data consumption by the app and enables users to shut off data transmissions by apps of their choosing. Google is now giving Datally an upgrade with four new amazing features to help users stay under their mobile data limit, and the features are Guest Mode, Daily Usage Limit, Unused apps, and Wi-Fi map.

1. Guest Mode: This feature is helpful when your phone is not with you. You can control your data when handling your phone to someone else. It can be your family member or friend. You just have to set the limit before handling the phone to someone and this will prevent him or her from burning your precious data.

2.Daily Limit: This feature would allow you to set maximum limit you can burn throughout a day and when you get to the limit on a specific day, you would receive a warning. Now, it's your choice to stop or set another limit to continue browsing for the rest of the day.

3.Unused Apps: This feature shows you the apps that you’re not using, but which consume your mobile data. With one tap, you can uninstall an unused app and keep your phone from leaking data.

4. Wi-Fi Map: The feature is designed to help you find any nearby WiFi connections. You would see local networks plotted on Google map and it's left for you to move closer to the one nearest to you and connect onto it to save mobile data.
